Here is our understanding of Ramadan. July 31th - August 30th. Observed by more than one billion Muslims around the world, Ramadan is a time for spiritual purification achieved through fasting, self-sacrifice and prayers towards a higher spiritual state. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five Pillars of Islam. The Islamic belief that requires that Muslims perform five central duties in order to strengthen their faith.

I just discovered that on of the 5 pillars of Islam is to help the poor. That is a wonderfully humanitarian gesture. When you add this to the daytime fasting “pillar”, so that you feel empathy for the hungry and neglected, that is a really great combination! We salute you! :))

Jerrold is one of my favorite local directors. His first feature-length film, “Confessional” has won several awards and has been screened internationally.
